Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Australian Cobberdog?

Australian Cobberdogs are a new breed in development and are a recognised breed with the Master Dog Breeders and Associates (MDBA).

The ACD is a breed that has it's own unique characteristics:

- strong human focus
- sustained eye contact
- high intuition
- high aptitude for training
- high intelligence
- low to no shedding/low allergy coat

ACD's make terrific family pets, with many also working in therapy and service roles. Their human focus and high intuition means they read human emotional states well and adjust their behaviour accordingly.

When can our puppy come home and what do I do?

Puppies are ready for their new homes at 9 weeks of age.

Socialise your pup as much as possible at this time within the home, being aware they are not fully vaccinated. Invite friends and family over, take your new pup for rides in the car, bath them, groom them, pump up the loud house noises (music, vacuum, etc)

Once fully vaccinated expose them to as many new people, places, dogs and experiences as you can. Be confident and relaxed and reward good behaviour.

What is the best diet for these dogs?

RAW! Offer things like raw chicken, beef, meaty bones, raw eggs, raw veg, cheese, oily fish, plain greek yogurt and some mashed potato/ pumpkin.

Always allow access to clean fresh water
