Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Australian Cobberdog?

The Australian Cobberdog is a breed in development and formally recognised by the Master Dog Breeders Association (MDBA). What sets them apart is a distinctive combination of traits bred with real purpose: a strong focus on their humans, sustained and thoughtful eye contact, remarkable intuition, and a real eagerness and aptitude for training. Add to that their intelligence and a low to no shedding, low allergy coat, and it's easy to see why they're become so sought after as family companions.

Are Cobberdogs good family pets?

Absolutely. While Cobberdogs are well known for their work in therapy and service roles, that same human focus and intuition is exactly what makes them such wonderful pets. When a Cobberdogs natural traits are supported in a safe, healthy environment, consistent training, and plenty of connection with their family, they are truly amazing companions. As an adult dog, they tend to read the emotional tone of them room and the people in it, and adjust their own behaviour accordingly, which gives them a gentleness and attentiveness that families really notice day to day

How can I be sure I'm getting a genuine Australian Cobberdog?

Every Chrystal Nova puppy is born from registered breeding dogs, so their Cobberdog lineage is genuine from the very start. Our dogs carry Spring Hills lineage, one of the breed's founding contributors to its development, giving your puppy a heritage rooted in the very foundations of the breed. Once your puppy has been desexed, your family will receive their official pedigree papers, giving you the documented proof of their heritage and the peace of mind that comes with knowing exactly what you've welcomed into your home.

What health testing do you do on your parent dogs?

Every one of our dogs is hip and elbow tested, and where that isn't directly applicable, health is guaranteed through lineage. This gives you the confidence that the foundations of your puppy's health have been carefully considered long before they're born.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Before any puppy leaves us, they receive a full and comprehensive health check from our vet. We also ask that you have your own chosen vet carry out a similar check within their first week home, simply to make sure that everything lines up and there are no discrepancies. This two-step approach gives both of us the confidence in your puppy's wellbeing right from the start.

What food do you feed, and what will my puppy be eating when I bring them home?

Our dogs are raised on a nutritious, species- appropriate raw diet, which we believe supports their health, energy, and longevity in a way that's trye to how dogs are meant to eat. When your puppy comes home, you will receive a comprehensive puppy guide as part of their handover, giving you everything you need to know about preparing their food and settling them into this way of eating from day one. As one of our trusted partners, Lyka Foods also offers our puppy families an exclusive 10% discount, making it that much easier to keep your puppy thriving on quality Nutrition from the very beginning.

Can I visit and meet the puppies or parents?

To protect the safety, health and wellbeing our pack, we don't invite visitors onto our property. We know how exciting it is to meet your puppy, so instead we make sure you feel just as connected through regular updates, photos and videos. When it comes time to match you with your puppy, we'll introduce you to them through images, video, and a written explanation of why we feel they're the right fit for your family, drawing on what we've observed of their personality and how it complements your household. This gives you a genuine sense of who your puppy is before they come home, while allowing us to keep our environment calm, controlled, and safe for the dogs in our care.
