About us
In 2020, my family of three became a family of four with the addition of a beautiful, Spring Hills Australian Cobberdog.
We immediately fell in love with the breed, and their innate ability to connect, nurture and adapt in human society.
Our new four legged family member, inspired us to extend our family further, and we chose to breed Australian Cobberdogs, so that other families can experience their emotional warmth, high aptitude for training and calm, soothing nature.
Located on the Mid-North Coast, NSW, Chrystal Nova Australian Cobberdogs are a small family owned business and registered on the pure breed registry, MDBA, that oversee the development of the breed.
We are happy to provide advice and assistance at any time.
What is an Australian Cobberdog?
What is an Australian Cobberdog?
Australian Cobberdogs are a new breed in development and are a recognised breed with the Master Dog Breeders and Associates (MDBA).
The ACD is a breed that has it's own unique characteristics:
- strong human focus
- sustained eye contact
- high intuition
- high aptitude for training
- high intelligence
- low to no shedding/low allergy coat.
ACD's make wonderful family pets, with many also working in therapy and service roles. Their human focus and high intuition means they read human emotional states well and adjust their behaviour accordingly.
At Chrystal Nova we are focused on breeding to better the Cobberdog breed. We primarily breed for health and temperament.
Many Australian Cobberdog pups make excellent therapy/ companion dogs.
We encourage all of our potential families to research the Cobberdog breed to determine whether or not an ACD would suit their needs and family dynamic. Buying a puppy is a huge commitment for at least 15-20 years.
Ethical Breeding
Our breeding dogs and puppies are raised in our home and are a part of our family. We do not believe that dogs should live in a kennel or in outdoor housing.
All pups go to their new homes de-wormed, vaccinated to date, fed a nutrient dense raw diet and vet health checked.
We temperament assess all of our puppies before allocating to their new forever homes, including:
- Energy levels
- Human focus
- Emotional warmth
- Confidence
- Sound sensitivity
- Tolerance to touch
- Assertiveness
As pups grow we introduce handling exercises and alternate pups environments throughout the day.
We start to assign pups from 7 weeks of age after completing puppy evaluations over a few weeks.
